Respite Provider
A Respite Provider must be at least 16 years of age, will need to become CPR and First aid certified and pass a state background check. They will receive training in the needs of the child and be able to perform the duties required in a Plan of Service for the child. Providers work in the Center, community and children’s homes providing interactive supervision for breaks for parents.
Community Based Supports (CBS)
CBS Providers must be at least 18 years of age, be a high school graduate (or have a GED), and have six-months supervised experience working with children with developmental disabilities either through previous work experience or through us with on the job supervised work experience. Additionally, must pass a state background check, complete CPR and first aid and complete competency coursework. CBS providers work in the community with children in interactive peer learning environments. Mostly during after school hours except for during the summer or off times from school.
Para-Professionals
Para professionals must be at least 18 years of age, be a high school graduate (or have a GED), and either have an associate’s degree, 32 college credits, or pass a competency exam required by the school districts. Additionally, must pass a Department of Education background check and complete CPR and first aid. Para-Professionals work as one-on-one aids in the school system to assist children with developmental, health and behavioral needs.
Intervention Specialist
Intervention Specialists must have a bachelor degree in a human services classes or a bachelor degree and 24 credits in a human services class, can demonstrate 1040 hours of supervised experience working with participants birth to 21 who demonstrate functional or behavioral needs, and can meet the competency requirements (40-hour RBT training for most). Specialists provide Developmental and Behavioral Therapy in the child’s home, community at times center environment for very specific circumstances.
Intervention Professionals
Intervention Professionals must have a masters degree or higher in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or have a related discipline masters with 1,500 hours of relevant coursework or training in Principles of child development, learning theory, positive behavior support techniques, dual diagnosis, psychology, education, or behavior analysis which may be documented within the degree, other coursework, or training. And have 1,200 hours of relevant experience in completing comprehensive behavioral therapies for participants with functional or behavioral needs. Professionals provide Developmental and Behavioral Therapy in the child’s home, community at times center environment for very specific circumstances.
Intervention Technicians
Intervention Technician is a temporary provisional position to allow an individual to gain the necessary requirements to become a Specialist or Professional. Provisional status is limited to an 18 successive month period. A technician can qualify by having one of the following requirements: An individual who is currently enrolled and is within 24 semester credits from completing their bachelor degree or higher in a human services field and is working towards meeting the competency and experience requirements. Or an individual who holds a bachelor degree in a human services field or a bachelor degree and 24 credits in a human services field and working towards the competency and experience requirements. Technicians still provide Developmental and Behavioral Therapy in the child’s home, community at times center environment for very specific circumstances.
