Interdisciplinary Training
Interdisciplinary Training encourages collaboration between Interventionists and child’s OT, PT, SLP, Medical Professional, which can include a Physician or Specialist, Dentist, Ophthalmologist (when the participant’s behaviors interfere with medical care); and Behavioral or mental health professional, which can include a Counselor/Psychologist/Psychiatrist/Mental Health Provider by allowing two providers to bill at the same time to reinforce each other’s goals and objectives and eliminate therapy that is inconsistent and not complimentary of one another. The Interventionist is allowed to bill Interdisciplinary Training while the other professional is providing direct support or service to the child. Interdisciplinary Training can be provided on topics such as health and medication monitoring, positioning and transfers, intervention techniques, positive behavior supports and the use of therapeutic equipment. The child must be present when the interdisciplinary training is being provided to the direct service provider.
